For immediate release $20,000 RAISED FOR AIDS AWARENESS FROM JADOT CUP GOLF TOURNAMENT ![]() Tuesday, July 3, 2007 - The Turks and Caicos AIDS Awareness Foundation (TCAAF) got $20,000 closer to realizing its dream of opening a youth center in Providenciales as a result of the Jadot Cup held last month. The popular golf tournament (now in its eight year) and associated events attracted a wide cross-section of the community while also raising a significant amount of money. For the last four years, the Jadot Cup has been hosted by the TCAAF along with generous support from sponsors and it keeps getting bigger and better. "The Jadot Cup has developed a reputation for being a fun event with a good cause and much of this is due to the unfaltering support of our sponsors," said Terry Drummey, a director of the TCAAF and the primary organizer of the tournament. "Once again, Jadot Wines and the Wine Cellar took the lead on providing products and assistance and we received enthusiastic support from individuals and organizations who came out to sponsor the events and play in the tournament. We are extremely grateful to all of the people and companies who kindly donated their time and money to enable us raise over $20,000. This money will help fund the construction of the Providenciales youth center, which will ultimately benefit the entire community. Our list of sponsors to thank is long and we're grateful to each one." Drummey added: "In addition to Jadot Wines and The Wine Cellar, who's consistent commitment has made the scramble such a success, the Jadot Cup would not have been possible without the support provided by The Hartling Group who sponsored the 19th hole, and the following companies who donated prizes and/or sponsored individual holes: Amanyara, Aqua Bar and Restaurant, Axt Automotive, Berkshire Trust, Bacardi, Coldwell Banker, Connolly Zahm, The Grace Bay Club, HAB, the Hartling Group, Hemingway's, Graceway IGA Supermarket, Jai's, Kobrand, Magnolia Restaurant, Molasses Reef, NW Hamilton, Ocean Club Resorts, the Players' Club, Point Grace, PTS Rental, the Regent Palms, Simba Restaurant, Temple Financial Group, the Tiki Hut, the Wine Cellar and Wired Island." ![]() The TCAAF is a non-profit, volunteer organization aimed at erasing the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS. Building a recreational facility that's open to and used by all young people in the country has long been a goal of the TCAAF. With construction fully underway, the youth center is about to become a reality and the TCAAF is one step closer to reaching a major milestone. In this region, people between the ages of 15 to 25 are at the highest risks of HIV/AIDS. This youth center, along with other programs delivered by the TCAAF, will go a long way to keeping TCI on the right track and ultimately reaching the overriding objective of stopping and reversing the spread of HIV and AIDs. Besides the youth center and fund-raising events like the Jadot Cup, the TCAAF dedicates its time to implementing informative and fun programs that engage young people and help dispel myths about HIV/AIDS. The monthly TV show called Making a Difference airs the last Tuesday of every month at 9:00 pm on Channel 4 and addresses various subjects related to HIV/AIDs in a positive and entertaining new format designed to appeal to young people.
